What We Offer to Bereaved Parents

  • Book Studies

One of our favorite things to do is to spend time with other parents studying books and the Word. Several studies each year are offered and are led by parents from the OHAH team. Ten studies are scheduled for 2024. These are a perfect opportunity for bereaved parents to dig deeper into learning to trust the Lord through the darkest days of their lives. LEARN MORE

What Bereaved Parents Are Saying . . .

“I completed 3 semesters of Grief Share with OHAH since early 2021. The curriculum points hurting hearts to the Truth and Promises of God. When my pain and trauma from losing my son was speaking the loudest in my ears, this time each week offered me a place to bring my questions, confusions, and even dislike of what I was gong through. My circumstances haven't changed. But my perspectives of God and His character definitely have. Seeing God for who H truly is reminds me that I am not alone in my suffering. Deep, lasting friendships were born out of my regular attendance of meetings. These connections are now the strongest and most beautiful relationships I have. GriefShare is well worth the time you invest!”

— Emily, Joey’s Mom

(Emily now serves OHAH as a facilitator for support groups and conferences, and as a webinar speaker.)

“Even at seven years into grief with the traumatic loss of our daughter and volunteering in grief support since then, spending time with other bereaved parents is always helpful, informative and encouraging. I highly recommend their conferences, even online.”

— Linda

“The conference was so helpful to me as a bereaved mom. I was encouraged by the stories and transparency of the conference leaders and speakers in how they have moved from surviving to thriving in spite of dealing with their tragic circumstances.”

— Marlene

“In our grief of losing a child, it is often hard to connect with others who could possibly understand the pain we feel. I found comfort meeting with this group of parents.” — Caleb’s Mom

"I really appreciated the opportunity to share our story without judgment, and with a group of people who get it. I felt understood and less alone in my grief." — Levi's Mom

“This conference helped me with the grieving process I am currently in with the loss of my son, James. I really enjoyed it and I can hardly wait for the next conference.” — Michelle”

“Very soon after my son died last August, I enrolled in an online GriefShare course through Our Hearts are Home.

The GriefShare curriculum is very good and connecting with other bereaved parents was so encouraging for me. Because of this connection, I’ve continued with two more sessions of GriefShare with OHAH. It’s been vital for my new walk as a bereaved parent.”

— Connie

OHAH facilitators are not trained grief counselors but are simply bereaved parents and fellow journeyers who are navigating the difficult path of child loss. Participating in an OHAH event should not be viewed in any way as a substitute for professional counseling.
