BLAKE & JENNIFER MULLINAX

Blake and Jennifer Mullinax are from the Greenville area of South Carolina. After losing their only son Cooper, Blake left his 20-year career as a mechanic and returned to college to obtain his Master of Divinity. He also works at the Greer Christian Learning Center, teaching middle school boys. Jennifer works in logistics for a family-owned company dealing in recycled polyester.

Cooper's tragic suicide came as an extreme shock to the entire family and community. He was just 11 years old. His soccer team had just won the championship in their division. He held three state titles in Taekwondo, had already passed all his testing for his black belt, and was scheduled to receive it at a ceremony the Saturday after his passing. As a family, we traveled extensively for tournaments and vacations. As we like to say, our "Party of 3" always had a fantastic time wherever we went. Cooper was a true empath and felt other people's pain and sorrow. He was always sweet, loving, and caring toward his family, the elderly, sick, or children younger than himself.

Jennifer and Blake lead Greenville’s Chapter of While We're Waiting support group along with Bob and Sharon Glazebrook. They also chair the Greenville AFSP Out of the Darkness walk.
